Got Ozone? How Electrified Oxygen Accelerates Healing, Transforms Health, and Enhances Performance

Sometimes the most powerful and elegant solution to our most difficult problems is right in front of us.

And when it comes to health and healing, ozone is one of those elegant solutions.

It is powerful, fast, broadly effective for dozens of conditions, and can even take you to your next level of optimal health and high performance.

It can heal your gut, detoxify your body, give you more energy, improve blood flow, enhance brain function, accelerate healing, repair joints, destroy pathogens, and more.

Best of all?

It is one of the safest medical therapies on the planet.

A 1980 study by the German Medical Society for Ozone Therapy examined results from over 5,579,238 ozone therapy treatments spanning 644 therapists and 384,775 patients.

They found 40 instances of side effects. That works out to a rate of 0.000007% chance of side effects. Not perfect, but pretty good.

100% Natural, broadly effective, and remarkably safe. Ozone is a gamechanger for your health and vitality.

What is Ozone and how does it work?

Ozone is molecular O3. This means it has three oxygen atoms instead of the usual two in the oxygen we breathe. And this third oxygen makes a world of difference.

Ozone is an unstable molecule. It’s made by running regular O2 through a powerful electrical current with a machine originally designed by Nikolai Tesla. This gives ozone a strong negative charge and makes it very reactive with other molecules in the environment.

When it reacts with another molecule, one of the oxygen atoms splits off and “oxidizes” it. This leaves normal oxygen (O2) plus the newly oxidized byproduct.

Another name for these oxidized byroducts? Free-radicals.

A Different Kind of Free-Radical

Now this is interesting because common health wisdom counsels us to avoid damaging free-radicals at all costs. Rows of antioxidants fill entire aisles of some health stores just so we can stay healthy.

So why on earth would we want to create more free radicals?

Exercise is the best example here. We all know exercise is good for us. But exercise also creates free radicals in the muscle tissue. These free radicals give a signal to the body to make bigger, stronger muscles.

A little bit of the right stress makes us stronger!

So let’s look at some of the different ways the free radicals from ozone can make us stronger.

Ozone and Enhanced Mitochondrial Function

One of the most powerful benefits of ozone therapy is in how it affects the microscopic energy factories powering everything in your body: Your Mitochondria.

Everything you do is dependent on the energy made from mitochondria.

The clarity of you thinking, your ability to heal and recover, even the quality of your mood. This makes mitochondria one of the most powerful levers for achieving optimal health and high-performance.

As mentioned above, when ozone comes into contact with your body it immediately reacts and oxidizes other molecules.

In a blood-treatment, the ozone oxidizes fats in cellular membranes. These oxidized fats are called “lipoperoxides”. This has 3 very potent beneficial effects on your health.

1) Oxidizing stimulation increases the health and flexibility of red-blood cells. “Cellular flexibily” is important because red blood cells need to bend and flex to “squeeze” through your tiny capillaries, which helps them release their oxygen. One study from the Dr Negrin Hospital in Spain showed exactly that: ozone treatments improve blood flow and oxygenation in the brain [1].

The relatively small brain uses approximately half of all your oxygen. Feed it with increased blood flow and oxygenation, and your brain will perform better.

2) Lipoperoxides can cross the blood-brain barrier [2] and enter mitochondria. Brain cells also have the highest density of mitochondria of anywhere in the body (although the heart is a close second).

When these lipoperoxides get into your neurons and the trillions of mitochondria they contain, it stimulates the mitochondria to get stronger, multiply, and become more efficient [3]. More and stronger mitochondria means more brain power and vital energy.

3) You get a big boost of theother byproduct of ozone: OXYGEN.

Healthy biological life runs on oxygen. The mitochondria make energy using oxygen. And as a bonus, most diseases cannot thrive in an oxygen-rich environment.

So lets’ recap real quick. Ozone therapy:

  1. Increases blood flow by enhancing the health of red blood cells
  2. It improves mitochondria function
  3. It gives your body a boost of oxygen to create energy and health

But it doesn’t stop there...

Ozone and Rapid Wound Healing and Infection Control

Your body actually makes ozone already. Your white blood cells have an enzyme called superoxide dismutase they use to destroy pathogens.

Why do white blood cells use ozone?

Because it is the best, safest, most effective solution!

Ozone is approximately 4500X more effective at killing microorganisms than chlorine bleach. Only instead of toxic chlorine residue, the only byproduct… is more oxygen.

Let’s read that again: The only byproduct of ozone gives you more energy and health. Pretty elegant solution.

Studies show ozone effectively kills antibiotic resistant bacteria, viruses parasites, fungus, and mold. [3-6]. In fact, ozone is so effective at safely destroying pathogens, it was effectively used to treat Ebola during the most recent outbreaks in West Africa [7,8].

You can even take it one step further: when applied to a wound as ozonated water or oil, it disinfects the wound and then catalyzes the healing process for faster recovery [9].

Ozone and Detoxification

Earlier, we mentioned ozone has a very strong negative charge. Conveniently, most environmental toxins like pesticides and heavy metals have a positive charge.

This electrical polarity helps ozone bind and neutralize harmful toxins, making it a powerful detoxifier both in your body and in the environment. [7,10-12]

In fact, ozonation is the primary method for cleaning water systems in Switzerland, Germany, and France since WWII. Combined with it’s vastly superior antimicrobial function compared to chlorine, ozone is not only safer and less toxic than chlorine, but actually more efficient.

What is Ozone Good For?

So far, we’ve learned that ozone improves cellular and mitochondrial function, enhances blood flow, kills pathogens, detoxifies, introduces more oxygen into your system, and accelerates healing.

Clearly this has implications for your health and performance, but let’s look at how this has been used medically.

Ozone has been used as a medical treatment since mid-1800s and is documented to treat over 114 different medical conditions [13]. At my Lifeworks clinic in Clearwater, Florida, for example, we have given over 50,000 ozone treatments for all kinds of conditions and issues.

Here are just a few of medical conditions where Ozone has proven effective in a clinical setting as a complementary treatment*:

  • Lyme Disease
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Cancer
  • Leaky Gut
  • Herpes
  • Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis
  • Systemic Lupus
  • Colitis
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Crohn's Disease

In addition, ozone is also effectively used for oral hygiene to improve the health of teeth and gums and in holistic/biological dentistry for better oral surgery outcomes and less risk of dangerous infections [14]

Types of Ozone Treatments

There are many ways to use ozone for improved health and healing. Most of them require a medical professional, but there are options for home use. If you are interested in using ozone at home, the best resource out there is The Ozone Miracle written by my dear friend and pioneering doctor, Frank Shallenberger.

10 Pass ozone - In this protocol, a qualified professional draws your blood, mixes it with ozone, then puts it back into your body. They repeat this process 10 times, hence the name “10 Pass.” This is one of the most broadly beneficial and effective methods of ozone treatment.
Ozone Injections - Injecting ozone directly to the site of an injury, infection, tumor, or disease site can have a powerful healing effect. Qualified professionals have used ozone injections in damaged or arthritic joints, tumors, eyes, organs, cerebrospinal fluid, and more.
Rectal -In this method, a thin catheter is inserted into the rectum supplying a controlled flow of ozone. The ozone moves from the intestinal tract where it destroys pathogens and parasites, up into the liver where it aids detoxification and stimulates liver function. Given the paramount importance of gut health and toxic load to overall well-being, this treatment boosts overall vitality.
Ozonated Water - Drinking ozonated water cleanses and detoxifies your digestive tract and destroys pathogens, fungus, and parasites hiding out in your gut. This water can also be used to rinse your mouth to facilitate better oral hygiene or put on wounds to accelerate healing.
Ozonated Oil - Ozonated oil can be applied to wounds, used to rinse the mouth or can be ingested for similar results as ozonated water.

Final Tips on Ozone Therapy

If you do decide to use ozone therapy, I have a few suggestions.

First of all, DO NOT BREATHE OZONE. Ozone is incredibly healing for every part of your body except the lungs. You won’t die, but you will cough violently for several hours.

Now because ozone is such a potent antimicrobial, your body can be overloaded by toxic die-off of pathogenic organism in the wake of a treatment.

I recommend all of my patients support their detox system if they come in for an ozone treatment. I recommend (and personally use) Perfect Amino and Complete Multi + Liver Detox to make sure the body can efficiently handle the increased detox load.

Also, because ozone introduces a controlled level of free radicals into your system, it’s best to not take antioxidants at the same time. A few hours after treatment, then antioxidants can be helpful to restore your body’s balance. I prefer to get my antioxidants from organic fruits and vegetables. BodyHealth’s Perfect Greens is my go to source packed with over 26 organic fruits and vegetables.

Whether you’re healing from a chronic condition or searching for your next level of optimal health, ozone is one of nature’s most powerful and elegant solutions to help you get there.

He also co-directed a neo-natal intensive care unit and worked in emergency medicine.

In 1992, Dr Minkoff’s wife Sue, a Registered Nurse, became interested in nutrition and health and began to go to lectures from some of the experts in the field. At the time, Dr Minkoff was pretty fixed in his view of traditional medicine and it took a lot of convincing to get him to come to one of these lectures. After hearing Dr Jeffrey Bland speak, Dr Minkoff had a eureka moment and began pursuing the alternative field with a vengeance. Based on this new knowledge Dr Minkoff and his wife set up a small clinic in 1997 to help some friends with their medical problems. What began as an experiment blossomed into Lifeworks Wellness Center, one of the most successful clinics for complementary medicine in the United States. In the process, he gained expertise in Biological medicine, integrative oncology, heavy metal detoxification, anti-aging medicine, hormone replacement therapy, functional medicine, energy medicine, neural and prolotherapy, homeopathy and optimum nutrition. He studied under the masters in each of these disciplines until he became an expert in his own right. Dr Minkoff is one of the most in demand speakers in the field and wrote an Amazon best selling book called The Search For The Perfect Protein.

The demand for the products and protocols he discovered became a catalyst for founding BodyHealth.Com, a nutrition company that now manufactures and distributes cutting-edge nutritional solutions for the many health problems of today. Fast-Acting Sugars Vs Slow-Acting Sugars & The Ballooning Of A Nation

Alright, so we know that when sugar comes into the body Insulin is released to shuttle that sugar into the cell. And if the cell is full, then it connects the sugars in chains and stores them as something called Glycogen in your muscle and liver cells for use later on. And if those are full then it connects the sugar to fatty acids and stores it as body fat. And, while Insulin is in the blood stream, fat burning is prevented.

We also know that, given too much sugar for too long, the cells start resisting it and refusing to let it in when Insulin tells them too, causing them to have less sugar to make energy with as well as causing more of it to be converted to body fat.

This is the second article in a series on Insulin, Insulin Resistance, Sugar and Body Fat, as a well as an overall series on hormones, so stay tuned!

Alright, if you read the first article in this series (Link this to first article) then you understand that when sugar is in the blood stream the hormone Insulin is released to send it into the cells for energy, or to store it as energy in the muscles as something called Glycogen, or to convert it into fats known as Triglycerides — body fat.

And that while insulin is in the bloodstream almost no fat burning can take plac

Yes, about 90% of what most of us consider as body fat is made by and from sugar.

But probably not how you think.

And it has a lot more to do with the type of sugar it is and, more specifically, how it affects your hormones (messenger chemicals that tell your body how to use the food you put into it)

Because it’s your hormones that will determine what will ultimately happen with this sugar and whether or not it will be used to make new body fat.

Let me assure you, this is not another low carb rant!
