ABOUT THIS EPISODE

The Gutsy Holistic Health Podcast is presented by Tristan and Juanique Roney, the founders of the Provo Health Wellness Center in Orem, Utah. Together, they bring a unique and powerful combination of knowledge, expertise, and experience in the field of health and wellness – all of which they bring to their listeners on the Gutsy Holistic Health Podcast.

For a little bit of background, Tristan was working towards becoming a licensed psychologist when he was diagnosed with stage IV rectal cancer. The challenges he faced in overcoming the disease led to his becoming a dedicated patient advocacy. Juanique is a healer, massage therapist, and the developer of a unique massage modality that produces faster, more dramatic results. Her quest for alternatives to traditional medicine and her hard-won expertise in natural health allowed her to heal herself from severe thyroid diseases and help her husband through stage IV cancer.

In this podcast, Tristan and Juanique speak with Dr. David Minkoff about ozone therapy and his journey to becoming one of the leading alternative healthcare experts in the USA.

This podcast covers the following topics:

  • 2:04 – Dr. Minkoff provides some history about how he became interested in alternative medicine, and the road that led to building his world-renowned practice, Lifeworks Wellness Center, in Clearwater, Florida. He covers his educational journey and his background as a pediatric resident, pediatric and adult infectious diseases, all taking place during the beginning of the AIDS epidemic.
  • 3:45 – A discussion about Dr. Minkoff’s contributions in research on one of the first anti-viral medications, ribavirin, and the drug becoming successful. With three kids, he was struggling to make ends meet, and he began moonlighting in a very busy ER. An ER nurse with a history serving in Vietnam taught him trauma medicine, and he then went into practice in pediatric infectious diseases for about ten years.
  • 6:08 – How Dr. Minkoff’s wife, a nurse, became interested in natural medicine and going to seminars. At the time, he wasn’t very interested in it. She then told him about Dr. Jeffrey Bland, and she convinced him to hear him speak and how he is the father of functional medicine, which piqued his interest in new approaches to medicine. He speaks about chelation therapy and how this was one of the first services he offered at an empty room at his wife’s home health care nursing practice.
  • 8:22 – Dr. Minkoff discusses how he first became interested in heavy metal toxicity and did a course in Seattle and how he began getting more and more patients, mushrooming as word spread. He rented the space next door, and now he has three buildings and a huge practice, and how he mostly deals with people who have serious chronic diseases, with patients who come from all over the world.
  • 9:45 – An explanation of how Dr. Minkoff first became interested in ozone therapy, did a course on it, and how he became enthralled with the possibilities of ozone. He got certified in the therapy, including Prolozone (for joints), and started using ozone in a steam sauna with infrared light. He finds that ozone makes a difference in lots of problems, including making athletes run faster and people recover faster from a range of health conditions.
  • 12:49 – Dr. Minkoff expands on how his interest in ozone therapy increased as he saw the response in his patients. He started by injected Prolozone into joints, and in four to six treatments, 80 percent had extreme alleviation of pain or no pain. He then installed the HOCATT ozone therapy unit in his office, and now has four, which are always filled with patients who love it.
  • 14:16 – An explanation about ozone and why it is such a critical part of enhancing health. Ozone is O3, which is created when oxygen is hit by lightning, creating three oxygen molecules with a negative charge. Most contaminants in the atmosphere have a positive charge. When you put together a negative charge with a positive charge, it neutralizes and clears viruses and other toxins. It is also able to improve mitochondria, the cell’s energy production system.
  • 16:27 – Ozone resets the balance of vitamins so the mitochondria can produce energy. In most people, this process is slow, ozone resets this process, and people get more energy, with the brain, kidney, and liver functioning better. In athletes, it can make a huge difference.
  • 17:49 – Dr. Minkoff covers how when he first started ozone therapy, he would track his heartbeat, etc., during his daily workout. Before he started taking the ozone, he did a test where he was working just below his anaerobic threshold, 162 beats per minute, which he could hold for hours. He then did ten ozone treatments (added to blood) and found that his heartbeat was 137 beats per minute – a dramatic difference, producing a considerable increase in power.
  • 19:53 – More about how ozone triggers a healing response. If supplement ozone for someone with a flesh wound, the skin regenerates faster. It turns on a new healing cycle, and the cells can fix what’s wrong.
  • 20:50 – An explanation about how the HOCATT ozone therapy unit works. He starts people low, as ozone kills viruses with a low concentration and heat. As they get more tolerant, they increase.
  • 25:43 – A discussion about ozone therapy and COVID. He doesn’t treat COVID in his clinic, but many other clinics are using ozone to help with COVID, with results that are very positive. He mentions it is very workable and safe, along with vitamins including D, C, and zinc.
  • 28:00 – Dr. Minkoff talks about Lyme disease and ozone therapy. His patients have a lot of inflammatory issues, and he uses 3 IV ozone, 3 HOCATT treatments, and hyperbaric treatments. The program lasts between two to four months, and with this therapy, the person improves. The stem cells turn on, and you get regeneration to make the body function better.
  • 48:08 – Dr. Minkoff discusses his book, “The Search for the Perfect Protein,” which can be downloaded for free. He talks about amino acids and the development of Perfect Amino, which began with an injury, which did not lead to a fully healed muscle. A friend told him to try an amino acid mixture, and after about six weeks, his leg was healed. He got interested in how amino acids work. He began measuring the blood amino acid levels in his patients, and virtually all of them had deficiencies.
  • 50:03 – There are twenty-two amino acids, and they can be combined in different ways to create various proteins. Muscle protein has 5600 amino acids in one muscle fiber. If you have a deficiency, your body cannot make more proteins, bones, and neurotransmitters. After years of following people, either they are not eating the right combination of foods or have a problem with digestion absorption, and how this led to his groundbreaking product, Perfect Amino.
