In this episode, Steven interviews Dr. David Minkoff about the our current global situation and heavy metal toxicity. This interview covers the following topics:
5:00 – Dr. Minkoff gives a brief history of how he earned his medical degree at the University of Wisconsin, followed by subspecialty training in Adult Infectious Disease and Pediatrics, along with research into antiviral medications.
6:51 – He discusses what was going on in the early stages of his medical career, which coincided with the beginning of the AIDS epidemic. He was the Co-Director of the Neonatal ICU and was interested in emergency medicine, and was working on the side in the ER.
7:34 – Dr. Minkoff discusses his interest in running marathons, his first Iron Man triathlon, and how he got hooked and has been training and racing in these competitions since 1982. He has competed in hundreds of triathlons, 43 of which were Iron Man competitions since then.
8.06 – A discussion about what drew Dr. Minkoff into an interest in heavy metal toxicity, starting with his wife becoming ill and his search for an answer. Her treatment to remove mercury fillings was performed incorrectly, leading to serious autoimmune conditions that were not resolved by any standard medical treatments from the best doctors. A thyroid specialist wanted her to go on medications that had potentially toxic side effects, such as steroids and interferon.
10.40 – Dr. Minkoff discusses how, through a stroke of luck, he encountered a natural dentist who spoke to him about the many side effects of mercury poisoning, leading him to become educated on the subject and ultimately successfully restore his wife’s health.
13:14 – An explanation of Dr. Minkoff’s transition from emergency medicine to treating chronic illnesses with alternative approaches, initially treating his friends and associates at no cost to try to treat their condition. His alternative practice has now exploded into a 15,000 square foot state-of-the-art clinic equipped with everything available to treat chronic illnesses, help athletes with performance, and establish an effective health technology that truly helps people.
15:37 – Dr. Minkoff discusses how the standard medical approach is treating symptoms, a band-aid approach, without much focus on discovering how the patient got into that condition. He reveals that his average patient has already seen about 13 doctors with no solution for their condition. About 85 percent of his patients leave his practice within three to six months with their health restored.
17:23 – Dr. Minkoff talks about how he has been obsessed with understanding what was happening with the virus from an immunology perspective, from a scientific perspective, and finding answers.
20:48 – Dr. Minkoff discusses interesting facts regarding his study of infectious diseases, and how during that time, he encountered a few cases of actual plague, one adult and one child. How bubonic plague is a terrible infection that killed 30 million people in the 1200s.
22:42 – An explanation about antibiotics and how they can work when the condition is caught early enough, including flesh-eating strep. Dr. Minkoff talks about toxic shock syndrome, meningococcal meningitis, and how his understanding of these diseases drove his interest in finding out everything he could about our situation in 2020. With information coming from China not reliable, he felt that the early measures taken were probably reasonable.
24:02 – A discussion of the subset of people at high risk of death from the virus, with 45 percent of them in nursing homes, typically on about 12 medications, including blood pressure medicine which can increase risk. He says most younger people are not at risk unless they are immune-compromised or have chronic pulmonary problems.
25:35 – A discussion about whether sick people should be quarantined but that healthy people should be exposed to it, get over it, and if they'd be okay. How is the virus linked to high levels of glyphosate (in Roundup), arsenic, and air pollutants? At his clinic, they are no longer masked and gloved, as he does not believe there is a high risk to the average person.
27:14 – A mention of the statistics that 88 percent of Americans are metabolically unhealthy, and when you have diabetes, high blood pressure, or obesity, you suffer from a compromised immune system.
29:00 – Dr. Minkoff explains how most people get sick because they are metabolically compromised. He explains how it is often the compromised, weakened, and sick hosts that determine the severity of the viral reaction rather than the virus itself. Factors such as high blood sugar, high blood pressure, and too much pharmaceutical medication have a significant impact on the severity of a viral reaction.
30:11 – A discussion of an army study that showed that the flu vaccine increased the intensity of coronavirus by 36 percent. Dr. Minkoff mentions that people should have been taken off blood pressure drugs that increase the receptors in the lungs to the virus, that the flu vaccine should not have been pushed, and that a campaign should have been run on healthy vitamin D levels to increase resistance to the disease.
33:35 – Dr. Minkoff discusses the fact that if other family members have died of a heart attack, your chances are high of dying from the same thing. He can assess you, tune-up your nutrition, and if you are found to have heavy metals in your system, get them out.
52:00 – Dr. Minkoff talks about heavy metals and how they're related to the new vaccines coming out. You will want to hear this!
55:38 – Dr. Minkoff answers the question, “do we need a vaccine?” Our exposure, daily, is to trillions of microorganisms, and our immune system is programmed to get the information from the particles and, if they are a threat, induce an immune reaction. This system has worked for as long as humans have been on the planet. As an answer to modern life, he provokes thoughts on positive and negative options we currently have.
58:04– A discussion of good reasons for having a vaccine, such as stepping on a rusty nail and needing to go to the emergency room and get a tetanus shot. However, for most things we take vaccines to prevent, the risk-reward must be evaluated.
1:02:35 – Dr. Minkoff explains how you find out if you have heavy metals in your system. You would need to go to a practitioner to be tested. The average practitioner is not educated on this; you would have to see a nutritionally-oriented practitioner who looks at toxicology as a reason for ill health. Dr. Minkoff further explains the process of looking for heavy metals in the blood. The average person has elevated levels of lead and arsenic in the blood, some have aluminum, and people who eat a lot of fish have high mercury levels.
1:05:30 – Dr. Minkoff explains how the average doctor does not have the proper tools to treat chronic problems, such as skin issues, body issues, arthritis, high blood pressure, and depression. You need to go to a practitioner who could help you find out what is going on and help you get better.
1:07:03 – An explanation of the steps taken to help restore good health, starting with a low carb paleo-type organic diet. If they go on the right diet for six to eight weeks, most people can solve most of their chronic problems. There is no substitute for having a good diet. He advises going outside, walking, exercising at least 30 minutes per day, and get enough sleep (seven to nine hours). Turn off the Wi-Fi and have an agreement with your spouse that no arguments can occur after 9:00 pm to calm your body down so it is relaxed and you can have a good sleep.

Dr. David Minkoff
Dr. David Minkoff graduated from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in 1974 and was elected to the “Phi Beta Kappa” of medical schools, the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Medical Fraternity for very high academic achievement. He then completed both a Pediatric Residency and Fellowship in Infectious Disease at the University of California at San Diego.
He worked at the University of California and Children’s Hospitals in San Diego as an attending physician in infectious disease while conducting original research on Ribaviron, a broad spectrum anti-viral agent to fight disease. He also co-directed a neo-natal intensive care unit and worked in emergency medicine.
In 1992, Dr Minkoff’s wife Sue, a Registered Nurse, became interested in nutrition and health and began to go to lectures from some of the experts in the field. At the time, Dr Minkoff was pretty fixed in his view of traditional medicine and it took a lot of convincing to get him to come to one of these lectures. After hearing Dr Jeffrey Bland speak, Dr Minkoff had a eureka moment and began pursuing the alternative field with a vengeance. Based on this new knowledge Dr Minkoff and his wife set up a small clinic in 1997 to help some friends with their medical problems. What began as an experiment blossomed into Lifeworks Wellness Center, one of the most successful clinics for complementary medicine in the United States. In the process, he gained expertise in Biological medicine, integrative oncology, heavy metal detoxification, anti-aging medicine, hormone replacement therapy, functional medicine, energy medicine, neural and prolotherapy, homeopathy and optimum nutrition. He studied under the masters in each of these disciplines until he became an expert in his own right. Dr Minkoff is one of the most in demand speakers in the field and wrote an Amazon best selling book called The Search For The Perfect Protein.
The demand for the products and protocols he discovered became a catalyst for founding BodyHealth.Com, a nutrition company that now manufactures and distributes cutting-edge nutritional solutions for the many health problems of today. Dr. Minkoff writes two free online newsletters, “The Optimum Health Report” and ”The BodyHealth Fitness Newsletter”, to help others learn about optimum health and fitness.
